ClothesPAC is the voluntary, nonpartisan political action committee of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA), of which your company is a member. Registered with the U.S. Federal Election Commission (FEC), the PAC allows the executive and administrative personnel of AAFA member companies who have given prior approval to the PAC to pool personal, voluntary financial contributions to support candidates seeking elective office at the federal level who support issues important to the industry.

Active employee engagement in the political process is an important means of protecting our industry. Public policy decisions have an impact on apparel and footwear businesses. As a leader in our industry and the business community, it’s critical that we be engaged and have a robust, effective PAC.

Yes. PAC operations are transparent and compliant with all applicable laws. Because they are regulated by the FEC, PACs are considered the most transparent form of political involvement. As required by law, PAC activity is reported on a quarterly basis and publicly disclosed on the FEC website, www.FEC.gov.

PAC support is based on a variety of factors, including candidates’ support of our legislative issues, key committee assignments, bill sponsorship and co-sponsorship, and sustained constituent relationships.

PAC support is determined by AAFA’s Policy team and AAFA’s President & CEO.

Your entire PAC contribution goes to support federal candidates for office. Nominal costs of operating and administering the PAC are paid separately by AAFA.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PAC ARE STRICTLY VOLUNTARY. Your decision to contribute to the PAC has absolutely no effect on your status within your company.

Individuals are allowed to contribute up to $5,000 per year to the PAC. All contributions to ClothesPAC are voluntary. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal. Contributions at any level are always welcomed and appreciated. PAC contributions are not tax deductible.

Federal law requires the PAC to report the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer for each individual whose aggregate contribution exceeds of $200 in a calendar year. This information is publicly available on the FEC’s website, www.FEC.gov.
